Presenter biographies

Terry Eckmann, PhD, is a Professor and Department Chair, Teacher Education and Kinesiology, at Minot State University. Terry presents internationally and writes for a variety of health/fitness publications. She has received the NDAHPERD Honors Award, NDAHPERD University Instructor of the Year Award, MSU Regents Award for Research and Scholarship, ND Picture of Health Award, IDEA Make Fitness Happen Award, and the Industry Enhancement Award from Club Industry. Eckmann serves on the advisory board of the International Council on Active Aging. She hosts KXMC TV Eye on Fitness, a fitness segment on the noon show for the Minot viewing region.

Anissa Castillo, MPH, MCHES. I am a Health Educator at the Humana Neighborhood Centers, based in Austin, Texas. Currently I am pursuing a PhD in Behavioral Sciences and Health Promotion at the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Public Health. I earned my Master of Public Health degree at UNT Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas & am a Master Certified Health Education Specialist. My undergraduate degree, in Hispanic & Classical Studies with a focus on Latin American Studies from Rice University in Houston, Texas opened the door for me to public health work. During this time I served as a medical interpreter at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center for Spanish-speaking patients in the Texas Medical Center, launched into public health, and never looked back. I have worn many hats during my career, to include fundraising, research, program management, and health education. Three of my favorite things are running, listening to live music, and spending time with my three children and husband. Helping Humana members and community meet their health goals and practice preventive health is a highlight of my work day.

Presenter biographies

Dr. Savage-Jeter is a board-certified family physician with an MBA and CRC designation. She earned her medical degree from the University of South Carolina and completed her residency at Palmetto Health. Dr. Savage-Jeter began her career in Union, SC, focusing on chronic illness management and healthcare access. Recognized as Physician of the Year by Union Hospital District, she's a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and honored for diabetes care excellence by the National Committee of Quality Assurance. Since 2016, she has held leadership roles at CenterWell Senior Primary Care, overseeing expansion across multiple states, committed to personalized healthcare and wellness. Outside of work, she prioritizes her family and community philanthropy.

Colin Hoobler holds two Master's degrees and a Doctorate and has been a physical therapist since 2001. He has authored two books on exercise medicine, taught at medical schools and universities, and created and hosted "The Fitness Show" on PBS, as well as "Choose Your Age" and "Action 30" podcasts. He is the Founder, Inventor, and CEO of S3 Balance, LLC, a company dedicated to reducing falls and staff strain. Additionally, he is the Founder of the Coalition for Active Resident Engagement (CARE), a non-profit organization focused on educating senior living staff on applying science to wellness.

Presenter biographies

Lawrence Biscontini, MA, joined the International Council on Active Aging Advisory Board in 2014 and presents regularly at the annual ICAA Conference. Biscontini has made fitness history as a mindful movement specialist, becoming the first recipient of multiple awards from ACE, IDEA & Inner IDEA, canfitpro (Canadian Association of Fitness Professionals), and ECA. A spa consultant and trainer, he creates group fitness and personal training programming on an international level for clubs and spas such as Equinox and Bally. In 2003, his creations for Golden Door Spa received 10th place worldwide in the Condé Nast Traveler Awards for innovative spa programming. Biscontini is a 500RYT Registered Yoga Alliance Teacher and a contributing author to industry publications such as the Journal on Active Aging, AFAA's American Fitness, and IDEA Fitness Journal. His most recent book, Stories of Color, supports the outreach work of his favorite charity, the Sisters of Saint Joseph in the United States.

Lauren Hannigan’s life’s work is to promote wellness practices and community building. She completed her Yoga Teacher Training with Laura Spaulding at Yoga East and studied mindfulness meditation at the Earth and Spirit Center. Lauren completed her undergraduate degree in Education at the University of Louisville and her Waldorf Teacher Training at Antioch University in New Hampshire. From 2022-2023, Lauren served as the Coordinator for the Humana Neighborhood Center in Louisville. In this role, Lauren coordinated and promoted wellness events for Medicare members and the Louisville community. She is passionate about helping Medicare members and promoting wellness through movement and lifelong learning. In late 2023, Lauren joined the Stars Team at Humana as their Communications and Education Professional. She likes doing and teaching yoga that combines fitness, flow, and fun. Lauren’s philosophy is that individual wellness promotes community wellness.
