Boomers get ready to travel for overnight vacations
Over half (57%) of 1,410 people ages 49-67 years old responding to a telephone survey planned to take an overnight vacation in the next 12 months, and nearly half (47%) planned on taking one to two weeks of vacation. Why take the vacation? Primary reasons were “to see, connect, or spend time with family and/or friends” (45%) or “for a pure fun, or relaxation” (38%).

The term “baby boomers” is used to describe people born between the years 1946-1964. As the boomer cohort ages to about 65 years, governments will begin referring to them as “seniors” (their term, not ours). In consequence, the size of the boomer cohort will gradually decline, and “middle age” will be populated by the age cohort nicknamed Generation X.

Sedentary lifestyle isn't great for men, either
In last week’s issue of ICAA Research Review, an analysis of the activity levels of 92,234 women showed that women who had many hours of sedentary time each day were at a higher risk of death, even if they exercised. A separate study included 84,170 men ages 45-69 who did not have heart failure (the heart cannot pump sufficient amounts of blood) at baseline. After an average of 7.8 years, 3,473 men were diagnosed with heart failure.
