What is more important for longevity? Physiological health status or psychological factors? Since previous research had indicated that personality factors influenced health and perhaps longevity, researchers turned to the participants in the Longevity Genes Project, which follows the lives of over 500 Eastern European (Ashkenzai) Jews over the age of 95 along with 700 of their descendants. Because Ashkenzai Jews are genetically homogeneous, it is easier to spot genetic differences within the study population.
