In the introduction to a new study, the authors review previous research exploring older individuals’ stereotypes of aging, based upon their personal experiences as well as their experiences with others. For example, people with positive stereotypes demonstrated better functional ability (handwriting, walking, memory) compared to people with negative stereotypes.
