In response to a question asking how long they would like to live, 20% of 2,417 people desired to live into their nineties and 8% to 100 years. The average of all respondents was a desired life of 89 years (Pew Research, 2009). Is health the only thing stopping them from reaching that goal? Researchers at the Georgia Centenarian Study decided to look beyond health status to find out.
