While most businesses, including senior living, are doubling down on digital transformation (DX), a newly-released study found that organizational leaders are leaving many of their employees behind in the process. The study reveals that 94% of all employees want to be more involved in DX, yet almost half (44%) of the general staff say they don't know how to help. This not only disenfranchises some employees; it can also slow the pace of DX success.

That frightening statistic includes individuals in North America, Europe and Asia - not just resource-poor nations. The 220-page report (pdf) is a comprehensive resource that provides global context for healthy aging and data that organizations can use to bolster active-aging initiatives and presentations.

GSA promotes age inclusivity in higher education

The Gerontological Society of America (GSA) and its educational section, the Academy for Gerontology in Higher Education, with support from AARP, have produced a new toolkit that can be used by faculty, students, administrators, and other campus leaders, to help ensure age inclusivity within academic courses and programs. The tools may be adapted to meet an institution's approach to making the case, building relationships, addressing ageism, crafting new efforts, and conducting assessments, according to GSA. Active aging organizations with communities that are located near universities may want to share the kit with these institutions and encourage partnerships.

Audio-only telehealth bill permanency proposed for Medicare

A telehealth bill introduced by US representatives Jason Smith (R-Missouri) and Tony Cardenas (D-California) calls for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to continue to reimburse clinicians who use audio-only platforms to evaluate and manage patients' mental and behavioral health. The bill also calls for broader use of telehealth, and will allow individuals to receive services at home.
