EASY screening enables safe entry into falls management program

The Exercise Assessment Screening for You (EASY) is a six-item screening tool that identifies risk factors for older adults and refers people for a physician’s release based on specific situations versus the recommendation to obtain a physician’s consent prior to any activity. The EASY development group was concerned that older adults would not exercise if they had a chronic condition or a physician’s consent was required. The development and rationale for each assessment question were reported in ICAA Functional U®, Exercise and activity for health living (May/June 2007).
