There is mounting evidence that a sedentary lifestyle of sitting or laying around for many hours of the day may be an independent health risk factor (ICAA Research Review, 11[26] 2011). In a survey that included people living in 52 countries the combination of leisure time and work-related physical activity was assessed for a group with a well-defined health condition: heart attack (myocardial infarction).
