Mainstreet's Zeke Turner: a disrupting influence on transitional care and beyond by Colin Milner-5553

Mainstreet's Zeke Turner: a disrupting influence on transitional care and beyond by Colin Milner

Every industry needs disrupters-people who challenge the status quo and ask why we operate the way we do. Disrupters drive innovation in their quests to improve things. In seeking to reengineer the customer experience, these individuals will many times inspire change that revolutionizes industries. Their greatest nemeses tend to be those who would benefit most from change, yet who are unprepared to do so because they find it costly and uncomfortable. 2015: ICAA's year in review

At the end of the year, many of us tend to look back and perhaps see what wasn't done-in our workplaces or our industry-and then start writing a to-do list for the next year. Yet there is also value when we recall what was accomplished, and what succeeded. What were the elements that made our initiatives or programs or organizations achieve a goal? Beyond care: a wellness blueprint for addressing cognitive decline

The ICAA Forum in November 2014 cemented the association’s most recent focus—wellness and cognitive health. There, attendees unanimously agreed on the need for, and value of, wellness across the cognitive continuum. At the Spring 2015 Forum in April, attendees arrived ready to fulfill an ambitious goal: To develop a blueprint for bringing wellness-based programs and services to people with cognitive decline.

ICAA Champion: introducing the City of Salisbury's Jim Binder

For Jim Binder, "active aging means acting as a role model and encouraging others to take responsibility for their health and well-being. And it means being enthusiastic about aging, as well as the possibilities and opportunities that aging brings." The City of Salisbury's coordinator, Wellbeing Programs, encourages people to "challenge stereotypes that both portray older adults through a lens of decline and diminished value and emphasize the 'burdens' of growing old."
