FDA warns companies selling illegal cannabidiol products
The US Food and Drug Administration has issued warning letters to 15 companies for illegally selling products containing cannabidiol (CBD) in ways that violate the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. That's important because a recent Gallup poll showed that 19% of adults over age 50 use a CBD product, and your constituents may be among them.

Boomer homes to flood US market in 2020s, 2030s
A flood of homes will come on the market in the next 20 years as Boomers age - enough to affect local economies in traditional retirement areas, according to real estate/rental company Zillow. Currently, about a third of US homes are owned by people 60 and older, and more than 27% will become available by 2037 as owners pass away. Specifically, from 2007 to 2017, roughly 730,000 US Boomer homes were released into the market annually. That number is set to rise to 920,000 per year from 2017 to 2027, and to 1.17 million per year from 2027-2037.

Stats: Juggling team supervision, other duties challenges 68% of managers
Sixty-eight percent of managers say their top challenge as a people leader is juggling management of their team with their other responsibilities, according to a report from Toronto-based SoapBox, which produces a management app. Does this resonate with you or your organization? Tech Talk: Juniper's top 10 tech trends for 2020
Juniper Research has taken a deep dive into tech trends for 2020, and both the slide deck and white paper are worth reviewing. Several trends are especially relevant to the active-aging industry. For example, the researchers found that the consumer robotics market - including social robots - may be poised to grow with the use of a subscription model. What will this mean for homes and organizations? Privacy concerns regarding voice assistants in smart homes will be addressed, the report says, and more local processing power will improve the customer experience. Also, of interest: Google is expected to leverage Fitbit (which it recently acquired) to mount a challenge to the Apple Watch. On the entertainment side, Netflix is expected to produce and air more localized, tailored content. Does this represent an opportunity for the industry?
