Humanity initiative, the Emory Empathetic AI for Health Institute will utilize artificial intelligence (AI) and computing power to discern patterns in vast amounts of data and make predictions that improve patient health outcomes in diseases such as lung, prostate and breast cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. This kind of initiative has implications for senior living, assisted living, and dementia care. It also offers another opportunity for collaboration, now in the Atlanta, Georgia area, and then in other regions.

The unpaid work provided by family caregivers is valued at an estimated $600 billion, according to the latest report in AARP's "Valuing the Invaluable" series. This is a $130 billion increase in unpaid contributions from family caregivers since the last report was released in 2019. The economic impact of $600 billion is more than all out-of-pocket spending on healthcare in the US in 2021 and highlights the need for organizations to engage with and support family caregivers.
