Acupuncture can help relieve sciatica pain from herniated disk
Acupuncture reduced pain and disability for people with chronic sciatica due to a herniated disk in a randomized controlled trial in China. Two hundred and sixteen patients with a mean age of 51 (68% women) received 10 sessions of acupuncture or sham acupuncture (placebo) over four weeks.

Scientists have engineered a sweat-collecting, wearable band that can comfortably interface with the skin during exercise. In a pilot study involving 12 volunteers, the new device dynamically gathered sweat during cycling, and enabled researchers to noninvasively study changes in blood lactate, pH, and other key markers of fitness and health.

Stats: Sitting less curbs blood pressure by 3.5 points
A recent study found that a health coaching intervention successfully reduced sitting time for a group of older adults by just over 30 minutes a day. Study participants also showed meaningful improvements in blood pressure, comparable to the effect of other interventions focused on physical activity. The intervention, called I-STAND, could be implemented easily in various active-aging settings.

Bad injuries more likely from falls than motor vehicle accidents among 50+
Researchers have found that the number of pedestrians injured from a fall – severe or otherwise - is significantly higher compared to the number of pedestrians injured by a motor vehicle collision, particularly among individuals 50 years of age or older.
