UK-based startup Propelmee has launched Challau, a first-of-its-kind robot-powered virtual travel platform, which enables users to choose from a range of destinations called "portals" to decide where they want to "teleport" to. Organizations may be familiar with virtual reality products that also enable travel, but the robot is different and doesn't require a headset.

Older people who report greater levels of social engagement have more robust gray matter in regions of the brain relevant in dementia, according to a recent study. Stats: Digital therapeutics, wellness app use to rise 288% by 2021-8413

Stats: Digital therapeutics, wellness app use to rise 288% by 2021

A new report from Juniper Research reveals that by 2021, over 44 million people will be using digital therapeutics to manage their healthcare - an increase of 288% over pre-pandemic usage levels in 2019; this suggests that digital therapeutics and wellness apps have become a lifeline for many people during the pandemic - certainly true for senior living and other older-adult settings. Organizations should consider preparing for this growth now by investigating the market, making and recommending suitable choices for their communities, and generally understanding that these tools are here to stay. The report also found that the number of people using digital therapeutics and wellness apps will grow from 627 million in 2020 to more than 1.4 billion in 2025, and, by opening up digital therapeutics to Medicare (see below), public health providers will become one of the biggest contributors to digital therapeutics revenue in 2025, to the tune of $19 billion globally.
