Tech Talk: Wearable camera+ AI detect medical errors
Researchers have developed a wearable camera system that, with the help of artificial intelligence (AI), detects potential errors in medication administration -- that is, when medications are given directly to people, usually in a healthcare setting or at home. Results of a pilot study show that the AI-driven video system recognized and identified, with high proficiency, medications being drawn in busy clinical settings, achieving 99.6% sensitivity and 98.8% specificity at detecting vial-swap errors.
