Overview describes the business of assisted living

In an assisted living facility, residents typically receive meals, housekeeping, transportation and individualized personal care for activities of daily living (but not nursing care) in addition to housing. Depending on the facility, residents may also have wellness programs, coordination with health care providers and other services. Assisted living residences are known by many names, according to the (US) National Center for Assisted Living, which estimates there are approximately 36,000 assisted living residences in the United States.
