Low levels of Vitamin D associated with poor health

Vitamin D, which the body manufactures primarily from sunlight, has been much in the news recently. The vitamin is needed to promote calcium absorption, which is why it is frequently referenced in discussions of the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. Now, researchers are looking at additional roles for vitamin D.
