Cognitive and economic benefits of strength training linger
Earlier this year, ICAA Research Review (10[5] 2010) reported results of the Brain Power Study, which demonstrated that 12 months of once-weekly or twice-weekly progressive strength training improved executive cognitive function and muscular function and increased walking speed in women 65-75 years old. The research team sought to gauge how long the results would last once the intervention ended.
