Satisfaction with life protects against heart disease

In addition to the physical risk factors for heart disease—obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes—stress and anxiety have also been associated with heart disease (National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute). A research team wanted to look at psychological characteristics from a different point of view. If negative emotions are linked to heart disease, would positive emotions help protect against it?
