In the same issue as the ACSM Position Stand, a separate study concentrated on strength training. The researchers noted that stopping exercise (called detraining) can lead to significant declines in strength in a short period of time. Yet, life events, such as a vacation or illness, can lead to interruptions in an exercise routine. What is the least amount of strength training needed to maintain strength?
