In Europe and US, mental health eludes too many people
Recent reports look at two aspects of mental illness: mental (psychological) disorders and neurological disorders.
As defined in a report from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “mental illness ... is characterized by sustained, abnormal alterations in thinking, mood or behavior associated with distress and impaired functioning.” The report authors pointed out that mental illness is linked to other health conditions, such as cardiovascular disease or diabetes.
