Increasing longevity, and increasing concerns

In many countries of the world, longevity keeps increasing. For example, in the United Kingdom, life expectancy at birth has increased to the highest level on record. Baby boys can expect to live to 78.1 years and baby girls to 82.1 years. Among European Union countries (2009), France reports a life expectancy at birth of 85 years for women and 78 years for men, while Spain estimates 84.9 years for women and 78.7 years for men (UK Office for National Statistics).
