In assisted living, a sense of belonging lowers risk of depression
Previous research has shown that a sense of belonging—the need for people to form strong social relationships—can influence a person’s physical and mental health. The author of a new study noted that people living in assisted living facilities were more likely to experience depression compared to those living in the community.
