Chronic illness associated with activity limitations

Background to a new study notes that 60% to 75% of US adults ages 65 or older have two or more chronic conditions. To determine if having two or more chronic conditions was related to limitations in basic activities of daily living (bathing, eating and getting in and out of a bed or chair), a telephone survey was conducted among 1,036 people ages 65 years and older in New York City Housing Authority residences. The Housing Authority provides affordable housing for people with low- to moderate-incomes.
