Americans enjoy more healthy years than a generation ago

The average American today can look forward to more than 2 additional years of healthy life than they could a generation ago, reports a newly published paper. By synthesizing data collected in multiple government-sponsored health surveys, researchers were able to measure how the quality-adjusted life expectancy (QALE) of Americans has changed over time.
