Men need more awareness of osteoporosis
Osteoporosis, the condition of porous and fragile bones, is often associated with women. After all, an estimated one-tenth of women ages 60 years and older have osteoporosis, and 61% of all osteoporotic fractures occur in women. Broken bones, a consequence of osteoporosis, can lead to hospitalization, disability and death. (International Osteoporosis Foundation). However, osteoporosis is also found in men and a new report details the need for diagnosis and treatment.
