Increased awareness of memory failings may decrease quality of life

Assessments of quality of life and memory complaints were completed among 37 people with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and 120 people with normal cognitive function. For the participants, who were 65 years and older and living in the community, quality of life (QOL) was not significantly different between those with normal and mildly impaired cognitive function. Among those with mild cognitive impairment, having memory complaints did predict a lower quality of life. Depression was associated with lower QOL in both groups.
