Positive messages about aging improve physical function

In a recent issue of ICAA Research Review (Vol. 14[27] September 2014), answers to a survey indicated that individuals who lived in countries where people at older ages had negative social status were more likely to have negative views of their health if they identified themselves as “old,” but if they lived in a country where older people had high social status, their perception of their health was not affected. A new report suggests that a positive image of aging can improve physical function.
