Successful grant program strategies for active-aging organizations by Terry L. Bazzarre, PhD

Regardless of the kinds of services many nonprofits provide, most depend on funds they raise from a variety of sources, and few have any significant endowment that provides them with financial security from one year to the next. Many of these organizations seek to identify foundations that may become partners in supporting their programs and services. However, numerous foundations may receive hundreds of grant applications in response to a single call for proposals, and generally fund only a small percent of the many promising proposals they receive. In this article, I offer you insights into why some nonprofits are more successful than others in submitting competitive proposals, plus tips to assist your organization’s fundraising plans and help you rethink your current approach to grant writing.
